What have changed- the industry, the market, and the company? The most important change is in the industry more than the market or the company. Big boys in the industry have been taking actions to re-position themselves in the Post PC Era. The actions are so big and so unusual that even the blinds can see! This implies that the company must respond before it is too late. This seminar attempts to answer six big questions regarding our responding actions. Do we have novel solutions? Do we have access to the Post PC Era market? Do we have funding to construct new business capabilities? Do we know how to do the construction? Will we develop competitiveness for the long term? Can we handle all the big waves and big winds in the process? Professional Audio Video Industry I. Review of previous talk: video processing applications in Pro AV, video formats & Colour Space, Video Compression Fundamentals II. Where the industry is headed: CPU, GPU, FPGA, ASIC, Coding formats - MPEG-2, MPEG-4, HEVC, VP8/VP9 & how they continue to evolve; New applications 4K, HDR III. Where we intend to go in 2016 a. Open Source applications - Blender, ffmpeg, OpenCL, GIMP b. Benchmarking with various applications & hardware architectures c. Extend/Enhance one or more of these applications to optimise for new architectures d. What do we hope to achieve - what do we do with this new knowledge, where do we go from here? |
