Machine Learning

o    The current Compucon Machine Learning capability is in Image Captioning (as depicted in the billboard).  It is still under development as at 2019-04.  Concepts captured and progresses of work have been presented to both Compucon channel members and the public such as in Meet Up gatherings and Kamo High School open technology seminars for the last couple of years.

o    Compucon started the machine learning journey in 2016 with Jin Zhou (BTECH), continued in 2017 with Aditya Walanj (BTECH), and conceived the first product in 2018 with Yueyuan Tan (Master of IT).  Current efforts in 2019 rest with Mingshuang Wu and Tingyu Zhang (Master of IT),  Yicheng Shi (Computer Science Hons Dissertation) and Alec Henderson (PhD student).  All students were/are associated with the University of Auckland. Academic inputs came from Dr. Radu Nicolescu, Dr. Xinfeng Ye, Dr. David Huang, and Dr. Michael Dinneen. The foundational start was in 2015 with Xu He doing a Computer Vision project supervised by Professor Reinhard Klette at the University of Auckland.
